As we celebrate - our mourn, depending upon your perspective - the First 200 Days of President Obama, it's a good time to asses the mood of those who voted for him. Despite well-founded suspicions of the nefarious activities of shady organizations like ACORN, the vast majority of Republicans do not contest the results of the 2008 Presidential Election ... we readily concede that Obama definitely won the election, and did so handily.
However, with victory comes the awesome responsibility of leadership; to be able to govern sensibly and competently. During the months leading up to the election, Obama offered uplifting themes of "Hope" and ""Change," carried along on the wings of soaring rhetoric, telegenic good looks, seemingly moderate policies, and a refreshingly focused and well-run campaign.
Once in office, however, Obama managed to anger his own core base on the far Left with his continuance of several of the Bush-era policies towards the war on terror (though more politically correct terminology was employed), as well as taking an aggressive military posture towards Afghanistan and waffling on his promises to stop the war in Iraq. At the same time, he has terrified moderates and conservatives with his reckless unprecedented spending spree that now threatens to not only wreck Obama's pledges on taxation and fiscal repsonsibility, but also to literally bankrupt the United States. Cap and Trade and the ObamaCare leviathans also loom large on the horizon.
His promises concerning bi-partisanship have also been found lacking, as he has pursued an arrogant and bullying policy - aided by Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel - that offers the stick of intimidation and recrimination, rather than the sweet nectar of cooperation and dialogue. His once "on message" campaign has disintegrated into an almost daily parade of gaffes, double-talk, newspeak, and "ill-chosen" words...and that's not counting Vice President Biden's gems.
So my question is this: are voters becoming disenchanted with President Obama? If you voted for him, are you happy with his Presidency thus far, or do you have "buyer's remorse"? Please make your voice heard in the poll and in the commentary below.
